Another W.E. O’Neil project and in our hometown! Delta Pipeline started working on the pre-construction back in November 2016 and was issued a contract in January 2018. Delta hit the ground running February 2018 and was on site daily until the grand opening in November 2019. This 10.5-acre site is home to 5 acres of high-end retail and restaurants with parking structures at each end. The challenge with the project was due to the tight area made worse because the existing oil wells, which were supposed to be capped at the beginning of the project, ran into difficulties and were not completed until long into the project. To keep going, with constant schedule/phasing changes and the incredible (frustrating) teamwork from all trade partners, W.E O’Neil built around the wells, leaving little room for the main road, courtyards, Kiosk hardscape, landscape, 13,200 lf of wet utilities, 9 grease interceptors and a storm drain relocation that had to be installed at low tide due to ground water. Delta is proud to have been part of replacing the old Seaport Marina Hotel eyesore with the CenterCal Properties – W.E O’Neil epic, ocean view complex which is sure to become a hangout favorite for Long Beach.
